Hopeful lovers of dramatic, modern architecture lined up last month to bid on two of Bob Hopes homes in the Palm Springs and L.A. area. Both hit the market at the end of February and were quickly snatched up. The real prize winner is the new owner of the John Lautner designed property, which was listed with an asking price of $50 million.
One of Lautners largest projects, this cylindrical home built in 1973 was inspired by volcanic shapes. It overlooks the Coachella Valley all 23,266 square feet of it. Constructed of concrete and glass, the copper roof opens up into a gran semi-circular shape.
With six bedrooms, twelve baths, and luxurious outdoor spaces with a pool, pond, tennis court, and fireplace, the new owners of Bob Hopes home will be living large like Hollywood movie stars.
